Avatar: Special Edition – Because $2.2 billion wasn’t enough

It may be cynical to suggest that the rerelease of James Cameron’s sci-fi epic Avatar in cinemas this week, with eight minutes additional footage(!), may be nothing but a money-making scheme from 20th Century Fox, but director Cameron feels the film needs to be seen by those that missed it the first time round.

Why can’t UK TV do decent sci-fi/fantasy anymore?

For decades, UK television was responsible for some of the most cutting edge sci-fi shows in the world. Shows like The Avengers, Gerry Anderson’s Thunderbird series and Red Dwarf caught people’s imaginations and provided a major boost to British productions.
