There and back again…
It has been many years since my love affair with the stories of J.R.R Tolkien began. As a young lad I read the Hobbit after my father recommended it to me. He was also a huge fan of Tolkien and a world filled with mystical monsters, wizards, elves and heroes certainly appealed to me at a tender age and is the reason why I still love fantasy novels to this day.
After my first read through I was hooked. I did not understand some of the elements of the novel and some of its themes and cleverness was lost on me, but I loved it all the same. The descriptive way in which Tolkien writes paints a very vivid picture to me and I am sure to all that read it. I read the book again around six months later and after that, was told about the Lord of the Rings novels.
I found those very tough going as I was only around ten or eleven years old and the books were very large. The themes were more complex, as was the story and I soon gave up reading them. I did eventually get round to reading the entire series much later on in life and enjoyed them thoroughly.
I loved the Lord of the Rings movies that came out and I’m sure all Tolkien fans did. Once I heard that they were going to make a movie of The Hobbit I got very excited, especially when I heard that Peter Jackson would be involved again, along with Del Toro, the director of Pan’s Labyrinth.
I looked through my old bookcase and found my old copy of the Hobbit, given to me around ten years ago. I had not read it in a long time, however that evening, I made myself a cup of tea, sat down on the sofa and started to read it again. I love the fantasy genre, and that book started it all off for me.
Final thing, I have just checked out the site design for this human resources software website and I must admit in my web designer opinion it is definitely attractive a well put together site, however I can’t help but feel they should have focused on the actual software a bit more.
