The Shape Of Things To Avoid.

The Shape Of Things To Avoid.

Being a bit of a Sci-Fi film buff, I spend a lot of my time trawling through the internet looking for the latest news about films in production. Sometimes I find stories about projects that sound very promising and sometimes and will come across some rather worrying news…

Today I came across a list of films that are being remade. Some of them sound like they could work quite well whilst other ones will make most fans of the genre wince! There are some films that are so universally recognised as being works of art that the very mention of remaking them should carry a very harsh penalty! Here are a few I read about that will give me many troubled thoughts and sleepless nights -

· Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Yes, again! God knows how many films they have made that are based on this story. It would be far easier to say how many of them have actually been any good. Apparently they are now planning a remake of the 1978 remake. Wouldn’t it of been a far better starting point to have remade the original 1956 movie?

· Fahrenheit 451

It would appear that the brilliant 1966 movie adaption of Ray Bradbury’s book was just not good enough for some people…

And here is the one that truly rocked me. I had to read it three times before I could convince myself that I wasn’t hallucinating…

· Metropolis

Yes, someone actually thinks they can carry off a successful remake of Fritz Lang’s 1927 ‘daddy of all Sci-Fi movies’! The guy responsible for this idea must either be completely insane or he has a habit of scoffing mind altering drugs along with his cod liver oil capsules.

I would have been no less mortified if I had heard that Tracy Emin was going to re-paint the ‘Mona Lisa’ or that Bob The Builder was going to knock up a new version of Michelangelo’s ‘La Pieta’.

Okay everyone, it is time for my incredible link of the week. I have recently came across upon this article called Enigin, not only is this company great at what they do, but I am really liking this article as well. Check these guys out!
