Fifties Sci-Fi Movies.

I have loved science fiction films for as long as I can remember. As a child, I can recall watching the old black and white films from the fifties such as ‘Invasion of The Body Snatchers’, ‘It Came from Outer Space’ and ‘The Thing from another World’. I think that they must have caused me to have quite a few nightmares as they really did scare me. I still love all of those old movies now, and I can see their influence in many modern films.

John Carpenter was also a big fan of fifties sci-fi and has admitted on several occasions that it has been a big influence on his work. As homage to those scary films of his childhood, he created remakes of ‘The Thing’ and ‘Village of The Damned’. ‘Invasion of The Body Snatchers’ is still a brilliant idea for a story and has been re-done quite a few times. The latest version, simply titled ‘Invasion’ and starring Nicole Kidman, was excellent.

The science fiction films of the fifties are magical and still make great viewing. A lot of today’s film-makers would cite them as being a major influence in their work and many of them are still being turned into modern interpretations.

Work wise, I’ve completely overwhelmed the stuff over on the heating oil page. It’s nearly as impressive as the joke I performed for the bio diesel fuel page, but I will live with it until someone says something. Given that I keep everyone happy, everything will be okay for now!
